Over the years I’ve spoken to a number of people who don’t think voting in a primary election is important, so they didn’t. But the fact is, the primary is as close to the grassroots level as we can get in choosing the candidate we will vote for in the general election. What can be more important than selecting a really good candidate to begin with? How many times have we heard that people don’t like either candidate. Well, the primary is essential to getting it right or as close to right as possible from the beginning.

I urge everyone registered to go to the polls next Tuesday, March 17, and make your opinions known. Those who have opted to vote absentee, be sure you put your ballot in the mail in time to reach the Board of Elections by voting day.

May this St. Patrick’s Day have more meaning than usual.
