Deception to obtain a dangerous drug
Medications fraudulently purchased: Police said they charged a 20-year-old Akron man with fourth-degree felony deception to obtain a dangerous drug after an employee of a pharmacy in West Avenue’s 200 block reported the man purchased two prescription opioid pain medications with a fraudulent prescription Feb. 12. Police said the man left in a vehicle before they arrived, but they stopped the vehicle at a nearby service station. Police said they found the medications in the vehicle and the man was taken to Summit County Jail.
Woman punched in eye: Police said they charged an Akron man, 27, with first-degree misdemeanor assault after a North Thomas Road woman reported the man punched her in the eye, leaving a cut, while they were at her home during the late morning Feb. 3. Tallmadge EMS treated the woman at the scene. Police said the man left before they arrived and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Feb. 19, said police, they saw the man in a vehicle on West Avenue, recognized him and stopped the vehicle. The man was given a Stow Municipal Court date and released on a personal bond.
