In these time of changing concepts and values, statues and site designations are finding themselves at risk, as has happened at least since ancient Egypt. On Feb. 24, the Torch Club President, Linda Porter will address the current situation. The ongoing debate about controversial statues and monuments in our nation is very volatile, but concerns much more than Confederate statues in the South. Using slides, Linda will explore who chooses our monuments, why there is pressure now to remove some and what to do with them after their removal.
Linda will speak at Torch Club dinner meeting at the Tangier Restaurant, 432 West Market Street. The Torch Club is an organization of professionals who meet for dinner and conversations, talk and discussion. The meeting begins at 6 p.m., costs $20 and is open to guests, within seating capacity, by making a reservation with J. Huber at 330-929-3959 by Feb. 21.
