CUYAHOGA FALLS — Police say they have received tips, but are still seeking the public’s help in identifying a vehicle and driver that struck and killed a Cuyahoga Falls man at the 2nd Street and Grant Avenue intersection at about noon Feb. 2.

"We are just looking at all leads at this point. We don’t have any updates right now," said Police Lt. Chris Norfolk on Thursday, adding that police do not yet have a vehicle description.

Amy Schaefer, an investigator supervisor with the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, said Monday that the cause of 61-year-old Robert Persinger’s death has been determined to be "blunt force trauma to the head and torso."

Gary Guenther, the ME office’s chief investigator, said Thursday that the manner of death has been ruled an accident.

Police said they and EMS responded after receiving a call at 12:06 p.m. and found Persinger, but the vehicle had left the scene. EMS took Persinger to Akron City Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police are requesting that anyone who may have been in the area of 2nd Street and Grant to Chestnut Boulevard between 11:55 a.m. to 12:06 p.m. on Sunday and may have information regarding this incident to contact detectives Brett Dirker and Theodore Davis at 330-971-8334.
