The Aurora Senior Center is looking for knowledgeable residents to represent the city in The 2020 Mind Challenge for the New Majority, a trivia tournament.
Thirty-six senior centers across Northeast Ohio will field teams to compete for cash prizes, according to a release from event organizers. Patterned after the NCAA Basketball Tournament, all participating centers will host "team formation rounds" in January. The Aurora Senior Center, 129 West Pioneer Trail, will host its formation rounds on Monday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m., according to the event website.
Competing teams will then advance to "regional play" in February, March and April. The top four regional teams will advance to the championship rounds which will be held at the Jack Thistledown Racino in early May.
According to the release, the first place team will take home $3,500, the second place team will win $2,000, $1,500 for the third place team and $1,000 for the fourth place team. The winners from the previous year used the prize money to improve programs at their senior center.
