A Macedonia man was charged with a minor misdemeanor after striking a pedestrian with his car on Dec. 12.
According to Twinsburg police, the driver of the pickup truck, a Macedonia man, was turning right onto East Aurora Road when he struck a pedestrian crossing south on East Aurora Road near Canyon Falls Boulevard around 5:15 p.m.
The driver was traveling five miles per hour, according to the report. However, police said the pedestrian, an Akron woman, had serious injuries and she was transported to a local hospital, though Twinsburg EMS personnel said the injuries were not life-threatening. The call came in as possible broken arm, Twinsburg police later said.
A spokesman for the hospital was unable provide information on the pedestrian’s condition.
The pedestrian told police the walk indication across the street was on. She was hit as she began to walk across the street, according to the police report. According to Stow Municipal Court records, the driver was charged with improper change of course, a minor misdemeanor.
Traffic was diverted around the area for approximately half an hour, Simon said.
