MACEDONIA — A Macedonia police officer was struck by a vehicle while working at the scene of a vehicular accident on Route 82, between Chamberlin Road and Shepherd Road, according to a social media post by the city of Macedonia.

According to a social media post from the Macedonia Police Department, the officer was being evaluated for a possible broken ankle.

The officer was being transported, but his injuries were not believed to be critical, according to information from the city.

According to police, at about 5:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to the scene of an accident on Route 82, east of Shepherd Road. While there, one of the responding police officers was struck by a vehicle. The Summit County Sheriff’s department is investigating.

The stretch of road on Route 82 between Shepherd and Chamberlin Roads had been shut down; the road is is back open.
