Family Book Discussion group will meet

Know a child who enjoys reading and discussing books and stories with parents and others?

The Aurora Memorial Library’s Parent and Child Book Club, for children age 8-12 accompanied by a caring adult, may be the perfect opportunity for that child. This group, which welcomes new members at any time, meets monthly during the school year. The next book club meeting is Dec. 14 at 2 p.m., when the group will discuss the award-winning children’s book, "Shades of Gray" by Carolyn Reeder. Aurora Cooks! Club to meet

The Aurora Memorial Library’s Aurora Cooks! Club will meet Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the downstairs gallery. Each member is asked to bring cookies for the annual cookie exchange. Call 330-562-6502 for more information.

‘No One’s Home’ book talk, signing set for Dec. 4

The public is invited to "An Evening with D.M. Pulley: ‘No One’s Home’ Book Talk and Signing," a program presented by celebrated local author D.M. Pulley at the Aurora Memorial Library on Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the library gallery. This program is for adults and will feature a discussion of the author’s most recent book. Copies of the book will be available for sale the night of the program. Registration for this event, which is being sponsored by Friends of the Aurora Memorial Library, is requested.

Santa to visit the library

Santa will make his annual visit to the Aurora Memorial Library Dec. 10 at 10:30 a.m. Children may gather in the downstairs gallery at 10:15 a.m. to make a simple craft prior to Santa’s arrival. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring a camera because photos are not provided.

Registration for this event is requested and can be made at the library or by calling 330-562-6502. The library will also offer make-and-take holiday crafts in the children’s area throughout the month of December. A variety of craft projects will be offered with a new craft added each week.

Adult reading challenge through Dec. 21

Adult library users are invited to participate in a fall reading challenge at the Aurora Memorial Library and may obtain a log for this program at the reference desk. When a library user completes their challenge by logging 10 titles, they may return their log to the library and enter a drawing to win one of two $25 Heinen’s gift cards. Completed logs must be received by Dec. 21, the last day of the challenge, to be eligible to enter to the drawing.

Presentation on artist Norman Rockwell set

The public is invited to "Through the Eyes of the Artist: The Art of Norman Rockwell," a program presented by Felicia Zavarella Stadelman at the Aurora Memorial Library Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m.

This program is for adults and will feature a discussion of the complex life of this beloved artist. No registration is required for this program, which is sponsored by Friends of the Aurora Memorial Library.

Holiday library hours

In celebration of the holidays, the Aurora Memorial Library will be closed on Dec. 24, 25, and 31, as well as Jan. 1. Normal business hours are Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Fridays 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Aurora Library, a Portage County District Library branch, is located at 115 East Pioneer Trail in Aurora. Library service hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 10 a.m to 8 p.m.; Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and closed on Thursdays and Sundays.
