An elderly Twinsburg man whose wife was terminally ill shot and killed her Monday afternoon and then turned the gun on himself, police say.
John Houston Jr. and his wife, Nina Houston, both 87, were found deceased in their Ridgewood Court home about 4:20 p.m. Monday by a family member. John Houston left a note that said he couldn’t live without his wife, who wasn’t expected to make it through the night, said Assistant Chief Bob Gonsiewski.
"It’s very sad," Gonsiewski said.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office pronounced the couple dead at their home.
The medical examiner did examinations Tuesday that determined both John and Nina Houston died of a gunshot wound to the head. The manner of death for John Houston was found to be suicide and for Nina Houston was homicide.
