Charges have been filed against a 22-year-old Munroe Falls man accused of causing the death of an Akron motorcyclist in Brimfield on June 24.
Tyler E. Jagiela, 23, of Akron, was pronounced dead at Summa Akron City Hospital following the crash at the intersection of Old Forge Road and Sunnybrook Road about 6:25 p.m, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Jagiela and a passenger, Sabrina M. Palmer, 22, of Akron, were headed westbound on Old Forge on a 1980 Yamaha motorcycle when they collided with a 2018 Honda CRV turning left onto Sunnybrook Road. Palmer was seriously injured in the crash, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The driver of the Honda, Matthew E. Williams, 34, of 204 Silver Valley Blvd., Munroe Falls, has been indicted on vehicular homicide, a first-degree misdemeanor, vehicular manslaughter, a second-degree misdemeanor, negligent assault, a third-degree misdemeanor, and failure to yield, a minor misdemeanor. He was not injured.
The case has been sent back to Portage County Traffic Court and a court date was scheduled for Nov. 27.
The Record-Courier does not usually name people who are charged with misdemeanors but Williams was named in the initial story about the crash.
