Hudson fire fighters extinguished a burning train engine Monday night on tracks on Stow Road near Ravenna Street.
Access to Stow Road was blocked as fire fighters battled the fire on the locomotive on the Norfolk Southern track from about 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The road and the track reopened at 9:50 p.m.
A Hudson police officer at the scene said the fire was called in from the Kent area.
"A loud bang was heard and the fire was observed by multiple units," the officer said. The burning engine continued on the tracks until it stopped in Hudson.
Hudson fire requested aid from area fire departments.
Officials at the scene said several trains were stopped down the line because of the burning engine.
No injuries were reported.
