STOW — A Cuyahoga Falls woman was treated for injuries and released from a hospital after a car crashed into the front of The Cafe´ in Stow at 4591 Darrow Road where the woman was eating breakfast late Wednesday morning, said a relative of the woman’s on Friday.

No other injuries were reported in a police crash report, but the relative, who was also present, said she also was treated at the hospital.

According to the crash report, an 83-year-old Stow woman was turning her 2013 Ford Fusion into a parking space at about 11 a.m. when she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake pedal, jumped the curb and struck the restaurant.

Police said the Cuyahoga Falls woman, 71, was sitting at a table with her back to a front window when she was thrown forward by the force of the impact behind her. Stow EMS took the woman to Akron General Hospital with suspected serious injuries.

Phone calls to Stow police seeking additional information were not immediately returned. No charges or citations were reported against the Stow woman as of Friday afternoon.

A woman who answered the phone at the restaurant Friday said the restaurant is open and the crash had not impacted its business.

According to the crash report, the Stow woman’s car sustained minor damage.
