Twinsburg Fire Department officials confirmed a three-car accident occurred on Sheppard Road in Macedonia Monday evening.
According to Twinsburg Fire Captain Don Simon, it appeared one car had stopped as it turned. A second car behind it began to slow to a stop; however, a third car behind it did not stop. The third car collided with the second, Simon said, which created a chain reaction and caused it to hit the first. Airbags did deploy in the second vehicle, Simon said.
Simon said one person at the incident did have a very minor mouth injury but was not transported to a local hospital.
The lane the crash occurred in was closed for approximately half an hour, according to Simon. One lane was kept open during the incident.
Simon said Twinsburg police and fire responded to the incident because Sheppard Road runs through both cities. Whether Macedonia or Twinsburg safety crews responds depends on where the emergency call was made from. After discovering the accident occurred on the Macedonia side, Twinsburg continued to assist.
