TWINSBURG — City safety forces responded to Giant Eagle Plaza after a Twinsburg woman crashed her car into the front of the UPS store at 8984 Darrow Road Friday morning, said Fire Capt. Gina DeVito-Staub.

DeVito-Staub said the call came in at 9:44 a.m. and EMS assessed the 72-year-old woman at the scene, with no injuries found. The woman declined to be taken to a hospital for further evaluation and no other injuries were reported.

"She came and she thought she was hitting the brakes and she hit the gas pedal and jumped the curb and actually hit right at the door," said DeVito-Staub, adding that the car hit at an angle, with the driver’s front corner and tire entering the building.

DeVito-Staub said the city’s building department evaluated the building and determined "the structure is sound," and the store can operate, but another entrance must temporarily be used and part of the interior is taped off.

A cost estimate for the damage had not been determined.
