Criminal damaging

Car doors pried open: A Prange Drive woman reported Aug. 28 that someone pried open all four of her car ’s doors while the car was parked outside her home during the night. Police said nothing was reported missing, but damage to the doors was estimated at $2,000.


Money taken from account: A Park View Court woman reported Aug. 28 that someone transferred $2,800 out of her bank account in eight transactions over the previous week. Police said the bank is investigating.

Money stolen from purse: A Second Street woman reported Aug. 27 that she believed someone entered her unlocked apartment at some point while she was outside during the previous few days and took $60 from her purse.

Car taken from driveway: A Searl Street man reported Aug. 26 that someone stole his 2014 model car of unspecified value while it was parked in his driveway during the night. The man said the vehicle had been locked and the keys were not in it.

Change taken from vehicle: A Second Street woman reported Aug. 25 that someone stole some change from her locked vehicle while it was parked outside her apartment building since June 20. The woman said she found the driver door ajar, but police said it was unknown how the vehicle was entered.

Tulips stolen: A Washington State man reported discovering Aug. 23 that some time after early July someone stole about two dozen imported tulips totaling approximately $2,000 in value from where they were planted outside a Taft Avenue home he owns.

Mowers and trimmers stolen: A May Avenue man reported someone stole two push lawn mowers and two weed trimmers totaling a little over $1,000 in value from a trailer outside his home during the morning Aug. 23.

Breaking and entering

Dehumidifier taken: A Silver Lake woman reported Aug. 26 that someone took an approximately $200 dehumidifier from a vacant Ruth Drive home she owns during the previous few days. Police said a screen was cut and a window pried open.

Attempted burglary

Sliding door opened: A Pinebrook Trail man reported Aug. 25 that someone removed a locked sliding screen door at his apartment and then left the unlocked glass sliding door open several inches during the night. The man said he did not believe the apartment was entered.

Discharge of fireworks

Firework set off near dog: An Elmwood Street man, 52, was charged with first-degree misdemeanor discharge of fireworks after a neighbor reported the man set off a firework in the neighbor’s back yard near his dog and ordered the neighbor to stop his dog from barking at about 10 p.m. Aug. 25. Police said the firework was a type that only made a noise and the dog was uninjured.
