The League of Women Voters in Portage and Summit Counties are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the right of women to vote in the 19th amendment and Women’s Equality Day.
The league is teaming with the Akron Rubber Ducks for the game on Aug. 25 to celebrate. The members of the league plan to dress in white at the game to honor the early suffragists and encourage attendees to attend dressed in white as well.
Activities throughout the game include a parade of the bases prior to the game that attendees can join. A league member will sing the National Anthem and "God Bless America."
Information will also be handed out to help game attendees register to vote or update their voter registration information.
Tickets are available at a discount for $7 through the link https://groupmatics.events/s/other/Womensequality.
Members of the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio, Girls on the Run of Northeast Ohio, Delta Sigma Theta sorority, the Kent State University Women’s Center and the Akron chapter of the NAACP will also attend.
