A run through residential streets on Independence Day before the summer heat sets in is expected to attract hundreds in support of those fighting cancer.

Starting at 8 a.m. at the First Christian Church across from Cuyahoga Falls City Hall, the July 4 Great Falls Patriot Run 5K Race & Walk will head north along Stow Avenue past Cuyahoga Falls High School to 6th Street, then north to Roosevelt Avenue, West to Bolich Middle School, north on 13th Street past Newberry Park to Silver Lake Avenue, then east to Oakwood Drive for the final stretch downtown.

Roads will be closed for about an hour.

The Falls Cancer Club, which is sponsoring the race to raise money to assist cancer patients who live in the city, asks that neighbors on the route come out and cheer on the runners as they pass by. Individuals and families are invited to participate.

Advance registration is strongly recommended at www.ThePatriotRun.com. Entry fees will be used to provide financial and support services for the Falls Cancer Club cancer patients. The Falls Cancer Club is a 501(c)3 all-volunteer organization. Assistance it provides can be emotional, financial or in the form of medical equipment dependent on the cancer patient’s needs. Financial assistance of payments for their doctor, pharmaceutical, lab and hospital bills as well as assistance in the form of food supplements and medical equipment has been provided since 1948.
