SAGAMORE HILLS — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a motorcycle crash on Valley View Road late Wednesday afternoon that sent a 65-year-old Macedonia man to a hospital with serious injuries, said OSHP Sgt. Kaitlyn Kowicki.
Kowicki said it was initially believed that the man’s injuries were life threatening, but the injuries are now considered non-life threatening and the man was "conscious and talking" on Thursday.
"It was downgraded once he got to the hospital," said Kowicki. "I know he suffered severe injuries to his left leg. That was the big concern when they were at the hospital."
Macedonia Interim Fire Chief Brian Ripley said Thursday that the call came in at 5:07 p.m. for a motorcycle crash just west of Chaffee Road.
"All we know is the aftermath was a motorcyclist was probably 30 feet off the road," said Ripley.
Kowicki said the crash is still under investigation.
"The motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway and then ended up losing control, causing him to crash and as of right now, alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash," said Kowicki.
Ripley said EMS took the man by ambulance to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
Kowicki said she believes that Valley View Road, which was closed from Chaffee to Sagamore Road, was reopened at around 7 p.m.
