TALLMADGE — Eastbound Howe Road traveling toward the Northeast Avenue Roundabout has been permanently reduced by one lane, according to city officials.

The change was done "in an effort to minimize the potential for traffic related issues," stated a posting on the city’s Facebook page. Tallmadge Police Chief Ronald Williams said crashes on the roundabout have "predominately" occurred at this eastbound Howe Avenue entry point and added the lane reduction is "an attempt to reduce crashes."

Eastbound Howe Road was the only artery that had two lanes — instead of one — feeding into the roundabout.

"People just seem to get confused there," said Williams. "From the time that we put that [roundabout] in, that’s where we’ve had problems."

Motorists are instructed to be cautious and yield to the vehicles that are already on the roundabout.
