Criminal damaging

Car kicked: A Streetsboro woman reported that an unknown female kicked her car after the woman would not give the female money while they were in a Howe Avenue store’s parking lot at about 5:15 p.m. May 10. A police report did not include a cost estimate for the damage or description of it.

Man in wrong apartment: A 25-year-old Ravenna man was charged with misdemeanor criminal damaging, criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct after a Buckingham Gate Boulevard man and woman reported the Ravenna man tried to enter their apartment through a ground floor window at about 4 a.m. May 9. Police said the Ravenna man believed the apartment was a friend’s home and he bent the window screen when he pushed it. The man was given a Stow Municipal Court date and released on a personal bond.

Vehicle driven into garage: A Monroe Avenue man reported that someone got into his unlocked and running vehicle while it was parked in his driveway, drove it forward into his detached garage, damaging the vehicle and garage, and then reversed it, got out and fled on foot during the late afternoon May 6. A police report did not include a damage estimate. 


Phone taken from vehicle: A Kent man reported someone took his approximately $900 cell phone from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked at a gas pump at a West Portage Trail service station at around 8 a.m. May 9. The man said he contacted the phone’s provider and stopped service to the phone.

Toy tractor taken from yard: An 8th Street woman reported someone took an approximately $60 toy tractor from her back yard during the day or evening May 9.

Leaf blower stolen from trailer: A Monroe Avenue man reported someone took his approximately $600 leaf blower from an unlocked trailer while it was parked in front of his home during the night May 8.

Phone taken at Natatorium: A Silver Lake woman reported someone took her cell phone in a leather case totaling about $1,000 in value after she left it on a treadmill at the city’s 4th Street Natatorium during the late morning May 5.

Money stolen from restroom: A Hudson Drive woman reported someone took $252 after she left the money in an East Bath Road service station’s restroom during the evening May 6.

Man reports SUV stolen: A 2nd Street man reported someone stole his 2010 model SUV from his apartment building’s parking lot late in the evening May 4.

Projectors taken from store: A Howe Avenue store employee reported two unidentified people left the store without paying for three digital projectors totaling about $6,000 in value May 4.


Men leave hospital: Police said a 13th Street man, 29, and an Akron man, 24, were charged with first-degree misdemeanor escape after they were separately taken to Western Reserve Hospital when they both complained of chest pains while incarcerated in Cuyahoga Falls City Jail, then left the hospital on foot during the early afternoon May 9. The 13th Street man had been taken to the jail after he was charged with misdemeanor obstructing official business and drug abuse instruments possession and the Akron man had been held in the jail on a misdemeanor theft charge. Arrest warrants were issued for both men.

Disorderly conduct

Man was screaming: A Suncrest Drive man, 19, was cited with disorderly conduct after police responded to a report he was screaming expletives and screaming at passing vehicles, as well as standing in the road and walking on a bridge railing in the area of Hudson Drive and Gaylord Grove Road at about 9:30 p.m. May 9.

Man seen kicking door: An Olympic Street man, 40, was cited with disorderly conduct after a Treasch Drive man reported seeing him walk up and down the street talking to himself, twirl in a circle, wave his shirt in the air, and then throw a lighter into a yard and start kicking a neighbor’s side door during the late morning May 6. Police said the door was undamaged and the neighbor declined to file a report.


Electronics stolen from home: An Oakwood Drive woman reported someone entered her home during the evening May 8 and took electronics totaling more than $1,300 in value. Police said there were no signs of forced entry.

Pills and phone taken: Two Prange Drive women reported someone entered their locked home by unknown means during the afternoon May 8 and took 15 prescription stimulant pills and an approximately $400 cell phone.

Obstructing official business

Man found in apartment building: A Tallmadge man, 36, was charged with misdemeanor obstructing official business, criminal trespassing, criminal mischief and drug possession after the owner of a Prospect Avenue apartment building reported the man was on the property without permission during the morning May 8. Police said that after they found the man in a hallway in the building, they discovered he had drawn and written graffiti of a sexual nature on a wall and he was in possession of a small amount of suspected marijuana. Police said the man also falsely identified himself. The man was taken to Cuyahoga Falls City Jail.

Identity fraud

Fraudulent charge reported: A Calvert Drive woman reported May 8 that someone charged an approximately $960 online purchase against her credit card account. The woman said the charge had been removed from her account, which was canceled.


Fraudulent check cashed: The manager of a Howe Avenue business reported May 8 that an unidentified female cashed a fraudulent check for about $837 at the business in March.
