Hudson’s popular summertime outdoor movie series will kick off this June in celebration of its 20th film on the First & Main Green. Screen on the Green, a project of Leadership Hudson, chose to pick a special film series to mark the momentous occasion.

"We have such a fun time selecting the movie line up and wanted our 20th film to be a good one," says Jill Centrello, Screen on the Green program manager. "We also wanted to pay homage to our very first movie shown, ‘Despicable Me,’ back in 2011. That’s why it made sense for us to make June’s film the newest minion flick, ‘Despicable Me 3.’"

The movie is being hosted the same night as the Hudson League for Service Ice Cream Social, so organizers hope the film is a perfect pick for the crowd.

A full line up of summer movies and dates includes:

• Friday, June 15, "Despicable Me 3;"

• Friday, July 20, "The Greatest Showman;" and

• Saturday, Aug. 25, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."

This is the eighth year of outdoor movies on the First & Main Green. Films begin at dusk and families are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and gather with friends for a fun night out. The Hudson merchants also enjoy the added traffic and customer interaction during the outdoor movies.

"Screen on the Green is such an awesome activity that encourages the community to come together and enjoy not only family time but also an opportunity to explore what we have downtown," said Jessica Pulley, manager of Cold Stone Creamery. "The summer is the best time to enjoy a cold treat and having the movies across the street from us at Cold Stone makes for a wonderful night out. We love visiting with customers and hearing about the movies during those summer nights."

Screen on the Green is presented through a series of donations from Hudson community organizations as well as ongoing sponsor, the Veterinary Center of Hudson. Learn more about Hudson Screen on the Green and get daily updates on the movies at
