Redeemer Church in Hudson has chartered a new American Heritage Girls Troop (OH-1799) and a new Trail Life USA Troop (OH-0190).
These troops are organized under the national American Heritage Girls and Trail Life USA guidelines and are sponsored and led by Redeemer Church. Participation in AHG is open to all girls from ages 5 through 18 years, and membership or attendance at Redeemer Church is not necessary.
Similarly, for Trail Life, all boys ages 5 through 18 are welcome to participate. TL declares its mission as "to guide generations of courageous young men to honor God, lead with integrity, serve others and experience outdoor adventure."
AHG declares their mission as "Building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country."
So far, 21 girls have registered to be part of Redeemer AHG Troop OH-1799 and 11 boys have registered to participate in TL Troop OH-0190. The first official meetings of Troop OH-0190 and Girls Troop OH-1799 were conducted March 13 and all expectations were greatly exceeded.
The boys opened with prayer and introductions followed by dodgeball and training in safe effective fire building. There were many smiles and no burnt fingers.
The girls also opened in prayer and then learned the oath, American Flag etiquette and started working on their gardening and needlework badges. Girls planted seeds to germinate for later transplant and again there were many happy faces. Meetings will be at Redeemer Church, 190 West Streetsboro Street in Hudson on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month starting at 6:45 p.m. and ending at 8:15 p.m.
Future planned activities include lots of hiking, camping and other fun special activities. Visit AmericanHeritageGirls.org and TrailLifeUSA.com for more information.
