A lengthy construction project on Route 8 northbound and southbound between Graham Road and Route 303 got under way Monday, with various daily lane restrictions in effect.
Last fall, ODOT awarded a $58.65 million contract for pavement replacement on a six-mile stretch of the road. The project is scheduled for completion in July 2022.
Kenmore Construction Co. Inc. was awarded the contract for the 100-percent state-funded project, which includes the stretch of highway through Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Hudson and Boston Heights.
According to ODOT, two lanes of traffic will be maintained each way when the median wall, inside shoulders and inside driving lane are reconstructed this spring, summer and fall.
ODOT public information spokesman Justin Chesnic said starting about March 20, the right lane northbound will be closed, then as of about March 25, the southbound right lane will be closed.
Starting about April 1, the left lanes both northbound and southbound will be closed through October.
