STOW — The city’s police department issued a warning to residents on its Facebook page Thursday that it has received reports that individuals going door to door claiming to work for a firm called Direct Energy are misrepresenting themselves when they tell people they were hired by the city to sign residents up for Stow’s gas aggregation program.

Police say this firm does not work for the city and these individuals are not approved solicitors.

Information about the aggregation program will be provided on the city’s website,, and by direct mail in about two weeks, said police, and the city will not have representatives contacting residents door to door or by phone.
