The Western Reserve Native Daughters conducted their annual father/daughter banquet March 1. The event was attended by more than 200 fathers and daughters from the Hudson, Stow, Kent and Cuyahoga Falls areas.
The Native Sons and Daughters Programs seek to strengthen foundations for a positive lifelong relationship between parent and child. Activities such as ice skating, camping, Whirlyball/Lasertag, bowling, parades and snow tubing take place throughout the year.
This year five sets of retiring dads and daughters that have spent a combined 50 years together at many of these yearlong events. The group honors the following dads and daughters on their lasting memories that were created: Marie (John) Comi; Jordan (Patrick) Gallegos; Lily (JJ) Sutphin; Caroline (Steve) Williams; and Angelina (Mike) Bunyak.
Also honored at the banquet was "Joe Friday Award" winner Tim Schwan of Hudson. This award is presented to the member who most exemplifies extraordinary personal services and dedication to the Native Daughters program. Schwan was instrumental with the success of the annual golf outing and raising funds for the group.
