Hudson City Council will have a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday to interview more applicants for the Ward 2 council position and to potentially appoint the new member. The meeting will take place in the Municipal Services Center, 115 Executive Parkway, Suite 400.

A total of 15 Ward 2 residents submitted applications for the vacancy created when Casey Weinstein stepped down from the post Dec. 31 after he was elected to the Ohio House District 37 seat. When council members finish the interviews scheduled for Monday, they will have spoken with all 15 applicants, according to Elizabeth Slagle, clerk of council.

Slagle said that means council could decide to appoint the new member Monday. As a result, the official meeting notice states council will convene Monday at 6:30 p.m. to:

1. enter into executive session to consider the appointment of a public official and to interview applicants for the Ward 2 council position; and

2. appoint a council member to fill the Ward 2 vacancy pursuant to Section 3.11 of the Charter.
