The Rock the Rink event scheduled to happen at the downtown Cuyahoga Falls ice rink Friday has been canceled due to mechanical issues, according to a city official.

Matt Schaad, administrative services manager for the city’s parks and recreation department, said the event will not be re-scheduled this winter and added the ice rink is now closed for the season.

"We do intend to hold the Rock the Rink event in either winter of 2019 or 2020," Schaad said. "We want to thank you for a fantastic season this year and we hope to bring you more awesome programming to our fabulous downtown."

Rock the Rink originally was scheduled to happen Jan. 20, but was canceled due to inclement weather.
