Drug-related offenses

Smoking device found near school: Police said that after a Northfield Village man reported finding a purse in a parking lot behind Dodge Intermediate School off Ravenna Road Jan. 27, they discovered the purse contained a drug smoking device, a lighter and a T-shirt. Police said they were unable to determine the purse’s owner.

Man stopped for speeding: A Darrow Park Drive man, 23, was charged with misdemeanor drug possession, driving under suspension and speeding after police said they clocked his vehicle at 87 mph in a 65 mph zone and stopped it on Interstate 480 at about 3:25 p.m. Jan. 26. Police said they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and the man handed over a plastic bag containing a small amount of suspected marijuana. The man was summoned to appear in Stow Municipal Court and released.

Police investigate suspicious vehicle: A Cleveland man, 36, was cited with minor misdemeanor drug possession after police responded to a report of the man’s vehicle as suspicious while it was in a Ravenna Road apartment building parking lot at about 8:20 p.m. Jan. 26. Police said they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and found a marijuana cigarette in it.

Man charged after traffic stop: A Northfield Village man, 50, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content, weaving and marked lanes after Twinsburg police stopped his vehicle on Route 14 in Oakwood at about 2:45 a.m. Jan. 26. Police said they smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from the man’s breath and his eyes were red and glassy. He performed poorly on the field sobriety tests and his BAC measured at 0.182 percent, more than twice the 0.08-percent legal limit, said police. The man was given a Stow Municipal Court date and released on a personal bond.

Woman found unconscious: A Cleveland woman, 24, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and blood alcohol content after police said they found the woman unconscious behind the wheel of a running vehicle pulled over to the side of Interstate 480 eastbound at about 2:10 a.m. Jan. 19. Police said the woman woke up when they opened the vehicle’s passenger door. The woman’s BAC measured at 0.182 percent, more than twice the 0.08-percent legal limit. The woman was given a Stow Municipal Court date and released on a personal bond.
