A veteran Macedonia Police officer working on Christmas Eve was injured when his cruiser was hit by a 56-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man driving a vehicle, according to the Macedonia Police Department.

The police officer was assisting other officers at a traffic stop at I-271 northbound north of the Ledge Road Bridge and south of the Cuyahoga County line at about 5:05 p.m. The officer and the 56-year-old man were not named in the police press release.

The man was arrested by a Summit County Sheriff’s deputy for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

The officer was taken to Hillcrest Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
