STOW — City Council honored Stow Police Officer Timothy J. Reiheld Thursday for his commitment to protecting the availability of parking spaces for those who need it most. Reiheld has issued more than 700 handicapped parking citations to drivers parked in handicapped spots illegally or using someone else’s placard.

“Stow City Council truly appreciates Officer Reiheld’s passion toward this cause,” says Council President Matt Riehl. “It is vital that we enforce the laws protecting people with disabilities.” Reiheld is credited with restarting Stow’s enforcement of this law. From 2004 to 2015, Riehl says, 1,342 such citations were issued by the Stow Police Department, with Reiheld writing 685 of them.
