TALLMADGE — Saturday’s rain didn't dampen the holiday spirit as children and those young at heart gathered on the Tallmadge Circle to spread a little cheer.

The Historic Church provided a stage for the 2018 seasonal performance by Pure Imagination Theater Co. directed by Frank Chaff IV with sound technician Dan Wahl.

Cast members included Arunie Lopez as Mary Poppins, Eva Walters as Felicity, Naomi Walters as Stephie, Van Walters as Brother, Kaitlyn Gagne as Girl, Loralei Wahl as Girl, Danielle Shook as Woman in the Audience, Robin Smilek as Mother, Gaile Wilkinson as Singing Father, Caitlin Allshouse as Singing Girl, Joshua Smoot as Grinch and Abby Ferriot as Elf on the Shelf.

Mary Poppins wanted to spread cheer while the Grinch wanted to steal the Christmas tree, and Elf on The Shelf answered questions from the children with one little girl wondering why her elf was dressed as Barbie.

Outside, Mayor Dave Kline turned on the lights on the tree in the Circle and ice carvers created a reindeer head and a penguin.

In the Old Town Hall, children posed with the Snow Queen and Ice Princess from Party People LLC while everyone enjoyed music by the Tallmadge High School Show Choir and ate cookies and drank hot chocolate, compliments of the Historical Society.
