AKRON — A Tallmadge man reported two unknown men robbed him at gunpoint in a parking lot at 304 North Howard Street Friday night, Akron police said Monday.
No injuries were reported. The 23-year-old man reported that his wallet containing as much as $700, several driver’s licenses from multiple states, including Ohio, and a Social Security card, as well as his cell phone of unknown value were stolen.
The man said that at a little after 8 p.m., he was driving a tow truck while looking for a business. When he passed the business on North Howard Street, he pulled into the next parking lot and while still there, two males with flashlights approached his truck.
The man got out because he thought the the males might need help, but then one of them pulled out a handgun and they robbed him. The man said he was pushed against the truck and the taller of the two males searched his pockets while the shorter one held the gun. They then ran back towards a wooded area and disappeared, said the man. Police said they searched the area, but were unable to find the males.
Police said the suspects are both described as black, 20 to 25 years old, thin and wearing puffy black coats and red flat billed caps. One is roughly 6 feet tall and also wore a gray Ecko hooded sweatshirt. The other is 5 feet 8 inches or shorter.
