AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season.

The Tax-Aide program, which provides free tax preparation assistance at six locations throughout Summit County, is seeking new volunteers this tax season. Volunteers make a difference in their communities by assisting many older, lower-income taxpayers and their families who might otherwise miss out on the tax credits and deductions they’ve earned.

Since its inception, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide has served more than 68 million taxpayers. The program is seeking volunteer tax preparers, client facilitators, those who can provide technical and management assistance, and interpreters. Every level of experience is welcome. Volunteer tax preparers complete tax preparation training and IRS certification. During the tax season, volunteers use IRS-provided tax software and are mentored throughout the process.

Volunteer training is planned for the week of Jan. 7 and the AARP Tax-Aide sites are active beginning in February. For more information about volunteering in the Summit County area, contact the Tax-Aide District coordinator David Warrington at 330-342-3503 or by email at Visit the AARP Tax-Aide website at for more information about the program and to sign-up using the link, or call 1-888-OUR-AARP.
