Car windows smashed: A man reported Oct. 14 someone smashed his car’s side window while the car was parked outside his home in Orchard Drive’s 3500 block since the day before. A Rittman woman reported someone smashed her car’s side window while it was parked outside an apartment building in Kent Road’s 3000 block during the morning or afternoon Oct. 13. Police reports did not include damage estimates.
Puppy never received: A Stow woman reported Oct. 13 after she arranged with a bank to transfer $2,700 to an unidentified male for the purchase of a puppy, the male continued to request more money during the previous two days, but never provided the puppy. Police said the matter was under investigation.
Man reports scam: A Stow man reported Oct. 12 an unidentified person scammed him out of a $500 gift card in an unspecified way.
Items stolen from yard: A woman reported someone stole a wrought iron bench, a planters pot, flowers and fall decorations of unspecified values from her yard during the afternoon Oct. 10.
Money taken from vending machine: An employee of a business in Graham Road’s 1000 block reported someone took $300 from a vending machine at the business during the late afternoon Oct. 10. Damage to the machine was not reported.
Items fraudulently returned: An employee of a store in Hudson Drive’s 3500 block reported an unidentified person selected two lock changing kits from a shelf, then fraudulently returned them for about $85 on Oct. 7.
Operating a vehicle
under the influence
Vehicle snaps utility pole: A Kent woman, 62, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content, hit skip and failure to control after police said the woman’s vehicle went off Deidrick Road near Powell Road and struck an electric pole at about 8:20 p.m. Oct. 12. Police said the pole snapped and fell into the road and multiple homes in the area lost power. The woman then continued driving through a front yard and back onto the road, but police said they stopped her nearby. No injuries were reported. Police said the woman’s BAC measured at 0.137 percent, higher than the 0.08-percent legal limit. The woman was given a Stow Municipal Court date and later released on a personal bond.
Man stopped for speeding: A Marhofer Avenue man, 32, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content and speeding after police said they stopped his vehicle after clocking it at 56 mph in a 35 mph zone on Graham Road near Liberty Road at about 12:45 a.m. Oct. 11. Police said the man’s BAC measured at 0.179 percent, more than twice the 0.08-percent legal limit. The man was given a Stow Municipal Court date and released on a personal bond.
Misuse of a credit card
Man reports charge attempt: A Hiwood Avenue man reported Oct. 11 someone tried to charge a $76 purchase to his credit card account at a Ravenna store. The man said the charge was denied and the card has been canceled.
Man found at restaurant: A Kent Road man, 29, was charged with physical control and open container after police said they found him allegedly intoxicated in a vehicle in the parking lot of a restaurant in Kent’s 4100 block at about 1:15 a.m. Oct. 11. The man was given a Stow Municipal Court date and released on a personal bond.
