Possession of drug paraphernalia
Drug charges filed: A 35-year-old Garfield Heights woman was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both minor misdemeanors, after police reporting finding suspected marijuana and a bowl/grinder in her vehicle at Tallmadge Road and Taylor Avenue on Sept. 30 at about 3 a.m.
Man, woman charged after police respond to apartment: A 50-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman was charged with possession of marijuana paraphernalia and possession of drug paraphernalia and a 55-year-old Akron man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments after police responded to a report of an unwanted guest in the woman’s Kennedy Boulevard apartment on Sept. 28. Both subjects were allegedly found in possession of a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine. The woman allegedly had a marijuana pipe and the man allegedly had a needle use to inject methamphetamine.
Drug trafficking, having weapons under disability
City resident faces drug, weapon charges: A 29-year-old Falls man was arrested and charged with drug trafficking, possession of controlled substances and having weapons under disability after he was allegedly found in possession of fentanyl and a handgun after he was stopped by police at Grant Avenue and 17th Street on Sept. 25. Police say the man has a prior conviction of having weapons under disability.
Woman charged with theft: An 18-year-old Akron woman was charged with theft on Sept. 28 after an employee of a Howe Avenue store reported seeing the woman conceal almost $128 worth of makeup and attempt to leave the business. The woman was apprehended as she was leaving the store, according to the report.
Vehicle stolen: A Prange Drive resident reported her blue GMC Envoy was taken from outside her apartment sometime between 10 p.m. on Sept. 26 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 27. She may have left the keys outside or with the vehicle, according to the report. There are no leads or suspects.
Vehicle taken from dealership: A sales manager at a car dealership on Front Street reported a man took a 2005 Dodge Magnum for a test drive on Sept. 27 and did not return. The man provided a Florida driver’s license. Estimated loss is $5,500, according to the report.
Breaking and entering
Money taken from ATM: A manager of an ATM reported that someone on Sept. 25 took $720 from the ATM located inside a business in the 1700 block of Portage Trail. The theft occurred after hours. Police are investigating.
Arrest made after two men injured in fight: A 59-year-old Falls man was arrested and charged with felonious assault after police say he repeatedly punched two men, ages 60 and 64, kneed both of them in the face and stomped on their heads once they were on the ground. The incident occurred on Third Street at about 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 29. The two men were transported to the hospital.
Woman reports assault: A woman told police that an unidentified female threw milk on her and scratched her nose while she was sitting in her car at Howe and Bailey roads on Sept. 26 at about 5:30 p.m. Police do not have any leads.
Possession of a controlled substance
Police say man had Ecstasy: A 28-year-old Akron man was charged with possession of a controlled substance after he was allegedly found in possession of 13.5 grams of Ecstasy at State Road and Sackett Avenue on Sept. 27 at 5:15 p.m.
Police say man entered home through window: A 45-year-old man was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal damaging and drug paraphernalia after an incident at a Washington Avenue home on Sept. 27. The man is accused of entering the home after pushing an air conditioning unit out of the front window. While inside, the man removed his shoes and drank a beer, according to the report. When the resident returned home, she told police the man approached her and tried to follow her inside. When police responded, the man was found sitting on the front stoop. There was drug paraphernalia close to the man, and the man told police he had entered the home, according to the report.
About $1,800 worth of items taken from apartment unit: An Americana Drive resident told police someone entered her locked apartment and stole two laptops, one tablet and one necklace sometime between 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26. The value of the items taken is estimated at $1,800. The suspect entered the unit through a ground floor window. Police say there was at least one shoe print outside the window and one shoe print on the inside window sill. Police are investigating.
