Drug possession

Woman was passenger in vehicle: A Bedford Heights woman, 37, was cited with minor misdemeanor drug possession after police stopped a vehicle she was a passenger in for speeding on Interstate 271 southbound at about 9:50 a.m. Sept. 23. Police said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and they found the woman was in possession of a small amount of suspected marijuana. The vehicle’s driver, a 28-year-old Bedford Heights man, was cited with speeding.

Vehicle had cracked windshield: Two Cleveland women, ages 28 and 27, were cited with minor misdemeanor marijuana possession after police noticed the windshield of the vehicle they were traveling in had several cracks and they stopped it on South Freeway drive, just north of Route 82, at about 4:35 p.m. Sept. 22. Police said they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and they found a small amount of suspected marijuana in both women’s purses. The younger woman, the vehicle’s driver but not its registered owner, was warned for the windshield.

Man stopped for traffic violation: A Cleveland man, 32, was charged with marijuana possession, driving under suspension and a traffic control device violation after police said they saw the man’s eastbound vehicle on Route 82 turn into a service station entrance despite a sign limiting the entrance to westbound traffic at about 8:50 p.m. Sept. 21. Police said that after smelling the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and seeing what appeared to be marijuana residue on his pants, they found a small amount of suspected marijuana in the vehicle. The man was taken to Macedonia City Jail.

Theft

Woman gave false identification: A North Randall woman, 33, was charged with misdemeanor theft, falsification and criminal trespassing after a Macedonia Commons Boulevard store employee reported the woman left the store without paying for merchandise totaling about $780 Sept. 20. Police said the woman initially gave a false name and date of birth. She was taken to Macedonia City Jail.

Wire fraudulently returned: A Bedford man, 63, and a Bedford woman, 52, were charged with misdemeanor theft and a Cleveland woman, 57, was charged with misdemeanor complicity to theft after a Macedonia Commons Boulevard store employee reported wire was fraudulently returned Sept. 13. The employee said the man and younger woman took two, 500-foot spools of wire from a store display to the customer service counter, where the older woman returned them for a little over $200 in store credit Sept. 13. The man and women then walked out of the store, where they were stopped by the employee. All three were taken to Macedonia City Jail.

Wheel covers stolen: A woman reported someone took two of her vehicle’s wheel covers of unspecified value while the vehicle was parked outside her Route 82 place of employment during the morning Sept. 13.

Suspicion

Tree knocked over: A Deepwood Drive man reported that when he came outside during the morning Sept. 20, he discovered a small tree on his tree lawn had been knocked over. Police said there was no clear evidence as to how it happened.

Assault

Woman assaulted in driveway: An Atterbury Drive woman reported that when she walked down her driveway to check her mailbox, an unknown person pushed her to the ground and repeatedly struck her in the face at a little after midnight Sept. 19. The woman said she was able to get up and run back into her home. Police said the woman had a black and blue mark around her right eye and the right side of her face was red and swollen. Macedonia EMS took the woman to a hospital for treatment. Police said that with the help of several Summit County Sheriff’s deputies and a Northfield Village police K-9, they searched the area, but were unable to find any suspects.
