Drug possession

Traffic stop leads to drug find: An officer pulled over a vehicle driven by a 54-year-old West Avenue woman on Aug. 30 at 12:25 a.m. on Tacoma Avenue near South Thomas Road for an expired temporary plate and no plate light. The driver told the officer she did not have a valid license and handed the officer her identification card. The officer noticed the female could not sit still and kept leaning toward the passenger side of the car.

The officer told her to stop reaching around the car when she started rummaging through the center console. She continued to search through the vehicle and tried to conceal a small item. The officer pulled her hands away from her purse, which was on the passenger seat, and made her exit the vehicle. The department’s K-9 unit was called to do a check on the vehicle, which was positive. A search uncovered a small paper folded with crystal meth.

The woman was arrested and charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. and taken to the Tallmadge police department for booking. She was then taken to the Cuyahoga Falls jail on 10 percent of a $10,000 bond. No plea was entered in the Stow Municipal Court, and a hearing was scheduled for Sept. 6 before Judge Lisa L. Coates.
