AKRON — An OVI checkpoint will be held on West Turkeyfoot Lake Road and Manchester Road in New Franklin from 10 p.m. Thursday to 3 a.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today.
The checkpoint will also be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes. The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant money, is intended to deter and intercept impaired drivers. OSHP asks that people designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before drinking.
“Don't let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired,” a press release stated.
