ORRVILLE — Like many other fairs and festivals, each year there are changes and adjustments made in order to make the event more attractive. The Orrville Rib and Music Fest is no different and there are three new and exciting changes visitors will notice.

First, the addition of family rides. There will be three carnival-themed rides for family fun at the event this weekend.

The first ride that is fun for the whole family is the Super Slide. It is a race to the bottom with friends or family — children under 36-inches must ride with an adult.

The adventure doesn’t end there; there will also be a pumpkin ride. Large pumpkins carrying riders will spin clock-wise and each pumpkin freely spins any direction. The rider controls the speed.

And if that’s not enough, there will also be a "little" Ferris wheel. Unlike the big Ferris wheel, this one is just for the kids, but remember don’t rock the seat. Prices for rides will be $2 each, with a special running during the children activities for $1 each from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The cruise-in area has been moved to a new location at the event this year. To make it feel more like one big event, versus three separate events taking place, the cruise-in will be located on West Market Street in front of PNC Bank and Farmer’s National Bank, on flat blacktop. In the past it has been held on the Smith-Orr House lawn; however, placing it on West Market Street will allow the event to flow more freely with the rib vendors, entertainment and children activities. The first 100 cars will receive dash plaques and goodies bags. Trophies will be awarded to both the people’s choice and judges’ choice for best stock entry, best modified entry and best of show.

Vehicles can be registered online at wwww.orrvilleribfest.com for $10 or upon arrival for $15.

Finally, the additional of bleachers in the entertainment area will round out what’s new at the Orrville Rib and Music Fest making this year, the best festival yet.
