HUDSON — City Councilman Casey Weinstein on Aug. 2 received the endorsement of former President Barack Obama in his race for Ohio House District 37.

Weinstein will face Stow City Councilman Mike Rasor (R) on the fall ballot.

"As a former state legislator himself, President Obama recognizes the importance of electing strong leaders at the state level," Weinstein said. "It is quite an honor to receive the President’s endorsement and know that he believes in our campaign and our plan to invest in local communities, fight for exceptional public education, and deliver 21st-century job opportunities. This distinction will only fuel our fire to win and give the people of House District 37 the representation they deserve."

Weinstein is also featured on the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee’s  list of must-watch races. The DLCC selects key races and strong candidates from across the country to highlight on its Spotlight Races page to raise national awareness and resources for critical races like District 37.

"The DLCC is proud to join President Obama in endorsing Casey Weinstein and is excited to feature them on our Spotlight Races page," said DLCC Executive Director Jessica Post. "Casey will stand up for democratic values in Ohio and make sure the voice of their community is heard in the halls of Columbus."
