Drug possession

Man cited following traffic stop: A Chilicothe man, 20, was cited with marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession after police determined through a random check of the license plate number of the vehicle the man was driving that the registered owner’s driving privileges were suspended and they stopped the vehicle in a Macedonia Commons Boulevard store’s parking lot at about 6:40 p.m. July 10. Police said the owner was a passenger in the vehicle. Police said they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and found the Chilicothe man in possession of a small amount of a substance that tested positive as marijuana and a marijuana pipe and rolling papers. No charges or citations were reported against the vehicle’s owner.

Cocaine found: A Berea woman, 30, was charged with fifth-degree felony drug possession and misdemeanor charges of theft and drug abuse instruments possession after a Macedonia Commons Boulevard store employee reported the woman and 26-year-old Cleveland Heights woman were switching price tags to pay less than $7 for merchandise totaling more than $220 in value July 9. The Cleveland Heights woman was charged with misdemeanor charges of theft and criminal trespassing and the women were arrested in a store checkout line. Police said they found the Berea woman in possession of a small amount of suspected cocaine and several used hypodermic syringes. The women were taken to Macedonia City Jail.

License plate was covered: A North Bedford Road man, 20, was cited with marijuana possession, drug paraphernalia possession, display of plates and full time attention after police said they noticed there was a tinted cover over his vehicle’s rear license plate and he was not paying proper attention in traffic and stopped his vehicle on North Bedford near Route 82 at about 12:30 p.m. July 5. Police said they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and found a small amount of a substance that field tested positive as marijuana, a marijuana bong and a marijuana pipe in the vehicle.

Animal at large

Woman finds dog in yard: A Hampton Drive woman, 49, was charged with fourth-degree misdemeanor dog at large after a Sherwood Drive woman reported finding the Hampton woman’s dog in her yard July 10. Police said they recognized the dog because the Hampton woman had been cited with dog at large in early May.

Theft

Police witnessed attempted theft: A 27-year-old Hartville man was charged with misdemeanor theft after police said they saw the man enter a Macedonia Commons Boulevard store empty handed, then later saw him attempting to return an approximately $35 music streaming device without a receipt. Police said store security video showed the man selecting the item off a store shelf before trying to return it. The man was taken to Macedonia City Jail.

Operating a vehicle

under the influence

Man stopped for traffic violation: A Ledge Road man, 28, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, driving under suspension, no operator’s license, a stop sign violation, open container and seatbelt after police stopped his vehicle on Ledge Road near Ledge Acres Road at about 1:10 a.m. July 6. Police said the man performed poorly on the field sobriety tests. He was taken to Macedonia City Jail.
