Volunteers for the National Park Service are out today to assist friends and neighbors of a Sagamore Hills family who said their horse, Foxy, was scared off by fireworks around 8 p.m. and has been wandering around the Sagamore/Walton Hills area ever since.
The horse was last seen in the vicinity of Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare on Sagamore Road, said Chelsea Heck, daughter of the horse’s owner, in a Facebook post.
The horse was dragging a 20-foot lead rope and may be tangled up in the woods, Heck said. She also said neighbors were looking around the area and others reported driving around for as long as an hour trying to find the horse.
At about 10:30 a.m., a park service employee at the Cuyahoga Valley Communications Center said a team of Trailblazers volunteers had checked in earlier to report they were on their way out to search.
