HUDSON — Electric customers at the city's north side briefly lost power Wednesday afternoon due to actions by an independent contractor working on a job site, said city spokeswoman Jody Roberts.

Roberts said power was restored after less than 10 minutes at about 2 p.m.

"We were able to turn it around very quickly," said Roberts.

Roberts said she is uncertain what the contractor did to cause the outage and she did not know how many customers lost power.

FirstEnergy Corp. reported that as of about 2:30 p.m., 33 of its customers are dealing with low voltage but do have power in Twinsburg Township on Darrow Road just north of Interstate 480; less than five customers each were without power in Hudson, Macedonia and Stow. The utility said it expects to have power in those areas restored by 4:30 p.m.
