Author Charlotte Marky shared her book, "Journey to Freedom," with the Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, International, when they met recently at Davey Elementary School in Kent. Delta Kappa Gamma, International is an Honorary Society of Leading Women Educators.

Marky discussed her personal journey to freedom during World War II. Born in Hungary, Marky and her family endured the horrors and atrocities of WWII. She discussed the peaceful existence in her farming town of Kislang, Hungary, prior to the war and the devastation and Communistic rule that ensued with the Russian occupation of Hungary. As a teenager, Marky made the decision to flee Russia and make her way to her ultimate freedom in the United States. A question/answer and book signing period followed Marky’s presentation.

A brief business meeting, snacks and conversation preceded the meeting.

The group will meet next for an Initiation Brunch that will take place on May 5 at On Tap Restaurant in Stow for initiation of new members and installation of officers.
