TWINSBURG — About 70 people gathered at Wilcox Primary School March 1 for a grand carnival celebrating the Jewish holiday Purim.

The event, hosted by Twinsburg Chabad, featured a kids buffet dinner, prizes, carnival booths and fun for all ages. The most joyous date on the Jewish calendar, Purim celebrates the nullification in 356 B.C.E. of a Persian decree calling for the extermination of the Jewish people throughout the Persian Empire as told in the biblical Book of Esther.

Chabad looks forward to their next exciting event, a March 22, 5 p.m. Model Matzah Bakery at the Twinsburg Community Center. Children will experience how to bake the traditional Passover unleavened bread known as Matzah, from scratch.
