A Cuyahoga Falls man was charged with third-degree felony having weapons while under disability after a woman reported the man fired a .38-caliber revolver in their home’s basement and then threatened her while holding the gun Sunday a little before 5 p.m.

Ricky Allen Kay, 61, was also charged with first-degree misdemeanor aggravated menacing and fourth-degree misdemeanor charges of discharge of a firearm and domestic violence. Police say Kay admitted he had fired the gun.

Police said the felony charge was due to Kay not being allowed to possess a firearm because of a prior felony drug trafficking conviction. He was taken to Summit County Jail. Bond was set at 10 percent of $100,000 in Stow Municipal Court on Monday. A felony status hearing in his case is set for March 14.
