The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank will host its largest breakfast for more than 450 attendees to kick off the 27th annual Harvest for Hunger Campaign, Feb. 15 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the John S. Knight Center.
Breakfast and networking begins at 7:30 a.m., with the program beginning at 8 a.m. Complimentary parking is available in the Broadway Deck (120 S. Broadway) or High/Market Deck (40 S. High St.). The John S. Knight Center is located at 77 East Mill Street in Akron.
Confirmed community leaders include honorary Harvest for Hunger Campaign co-chairs Dr. Brian Harte, president, Cleveland Clinic Akron General; and Jim Porter, publisher, GateHouse Media Ohio; as well as Akron Mayor Daniel Horrigan; and Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro.
Foodbank board members, and representatives from numerous hunger-relief programs, supermarket partners, businesses, schools and community organizations have also been participants.
The Harvest for Hunger campaign is one of the largest food and funds drives in the country, coordinated locally by the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. At the campaign kick-off, guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the campaign and how they can get involved, plus hear from honorary co-chairs, Harte and Porter. The program will end with a motivational address from Foodbank President and CEO Dan Flowers.
