Christ Church Episcopal will host "The Opioid Epidemic " Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. with Greg McNeil, a Hudson resident who will tell the story of his late son, Sam, and his battle with opioid dependence.
McNeil will share lessons learned during his family’s journey with Sam and how they came to form COVER 2 Resources, a non-profit organization whose mission is to "fight the opioid epidemic through education and advocacy." His discussion will include alternatives to prescription opioids for pain management as well as resources for families struggling with an addiction.
In addition, McNeil will present preventative measures such as educational programs that are working well throughout the country, some of which are being adopted here in Summit County.
"Whether directly or indirectly, the opioid epidemic affects all of us," said the Rev. Charlotte Collins Reed. "Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend this forum and hear Greg McNeil talk about his own family’s struggle, what they have learned and how we can all be part of the solution to this crisis."
Christ Church Episcopal is at 21 Aurora Street Hudson. There is no admission fee to attend and activities for young children will be available. For more information or to reserve a spot in the children’s room call 330-650-4359.
