Mayor Don Walters and the Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department on Tuesday afternoon hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the newly constructed kayak / canoe boat launch at River Front Park, 2641 Front St.
In March of 2014, the Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department submitted a grant for funding of a kayak / canoe boat launch facility for River Front Park. The launch facility was needed because it is the last take-out area before approaching more serious and demanding rapids beyond. The $116,000 project was selected for 100 percent funding through a Cooperative Boating Facility grant by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Watercraft in the fall of 2015. Construction on the facility began in April 2016 and will be completed in mid-July 2016.
