Details of proposed water rate increase

If Silver Lake's proposed water rate increase is approved, the average monthly water bill in the village will increase from $34.95 to $37.76 starting with the bills due Aug. 10.

That average bill is calculated based on 8 units of water used.

Currently, residents pay a fixed charge of $13.11 per month and $2.73 per 100 cubic feet of water used.

If Council OKs the rate increase, residents would pay $14.16 a month and $2.95 per 100 cubic feet of water used starting with the bills due Aug. 10.

The proposal would also increase water rates by 4 more percent starting with the bills due Feb. 10, 2008, and by another 4 percent beginning with the bills due Aug. 10, 2008.

By that date, the average monthly water bill will be $40.84.
